MAJOR UPDATE PART 1

I realize it's been FOREVER since I've updated here. It's so much easier for me to post pictures up on my myspace and Xanga accounts that I forget to post here.

So, I figured I'l play a game of catch up today. Below the cut, is a bunch of pictures. I'll be making 2 more posts with pictues, since there are so many.

Hopefully though, you'll find it worth it. I've shot several new people lately, had a ton of fun doing it, and made some new friends.

So, here we go:

JOHARI

Yeah, I did one of those damn Johari windows. Seems like everyone I know has done one lately, so I thought, what the hell? It's been sort of interesting to see the results so far. Go and fill it out if you get bored.

THE MEANING OF LIFE

This is going to be one of my really down posts, so I'm warning you in advance, just in case you want to skip on down your friends page.

I find myself pondering what the meaning of life is. Or, rather, what the meaning of MY life is. I'm not sure it has one. Sometimes I think I'm only here for the amusement of whatever higher power there is. For some reason, I seem to be his shitting post.

My car is broken down again. I have no idea how much money it's going to take to fix it, but whatever it is, right after repairing my car just a few weeks ago, I'm not sure I can afford it. If it's more than $150 I know I CAN'T afford it and I'm not sure how soon I would be able to. I could be going a few months without a car. Now, maybe it'll be $150. That's fine. It just means I will be flat ass broke and trying to catch up for months. I'm tired of that. I'm tired of having no money.

Most of my friends go places, take trips. I don't. While it's true I've gone to NYC and Nebraska in the last couple of years, both of those were working trips that lasted a weekend and all I did was work. I saw nothing of either place that wasn't on the way to doing something. In my adult life I've never taken a vacation (and I only took 1 in my childhood). So I never get to escape or relax. I get one day off a week and most of those days I'm taking pictures.

It makes me more than a little bitter. Not the pictures part, that's my own fault, but never getting to go anywhere. There's just no way I can afford it.

My car is a piece of shit. My fear is that it's going to die for good soon and then I'll be really screwed since I can't afford another and don't relish the thought of having to walk everywhere and not be able to go places unless someone gives me a ride.

And then there's my "lovelife" which is non-existant and always has been. I keep wondering if I'm destined to live my life and never know what it's like to be truly loved by someone. I wonder why it's so hard to meet someone who could be attracted to me. And at this point, I wonder if there is no one who could be. Am I really that ugly? Am I really that unappealing? Am I really that horrible. I'm beginning to think I must be.

All in all, I keep wondering if there is any point to my life. And I'm having a hard time coming up with one. I feel pointless. I feel like the ugliest person on the face of the earth. I feel fat. I feel doomed. And I wonder why I go on. And to be honest, I'm not sure.

And I'm not writing this so people will send me a comment saying how much they love me or whatever. I'm disabling comments so that doesn't happen.

I'm just sitting here putting down what's going through my head right now.

SCREENING PARTY

I'm in the middle of reading SCREENING PARTY by Dennis Hensley, who's the author of my favorite book ever, MISADVENTURES IN THE (213). Which is the funniest book ever.

This book is basically him and his friends watching movies and making catty comments about what's going on. There's also bits about their life, but mostly that just works in to whatever movie they are watching. Each chapter was basically an article in British Premiere that he wrote monthly and then assembled into a book.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this book and thought I'd share a few moments (ok, a BUNCH of moments):

UPDATE

Realized that I'm behind again on updating pics and since I'm home alone on a Saturday night, I figured what better night to post them? Here's some from a couple weeks back of my friends Cassiday and Jason. And I should mention that it was REALLY windy the day we shot these. :D

ANOTHER UPDATE

Can you believe it? Two flipping updates in one night!

I've been sick for the past 3 days. A normal person would lie on the couch and watch tv. No, not me. I feel guilty if I'm not working on something, so, for the last few days, I've been working on posters for next season at Wichita Community Theatre. Finished them up tonight so I thought I'd share.

Now, obviously, no one has approved these yet, so they may change, but this is what I've got so far.

GOODING TEASE

just spend the most incredible weekend with the band Gooding! We traveled to Beatrice, Nebraska (or rather, I met them there) for a show.

They were there by invitation to see the Beatrice High School Drumline perform. See, the director of the drumline is a HUGE Gooding fan and he and some friends did a drumline arrangement of several Gooding songs and asked the band to come to NE and see them perform. Which we did. To return the favor, the band put on a show on Saturday night. The drumline opened the show and then played with the band during the finale (and G and Jesse joined the drumline in the opening show on one song).

It was a great time. We got there on Friday night and set up, plus we got to meet the drumline and rehearse a tiny bit. Then on Saturday morning they did a photoshoot together at a local photo studio and then we went to the school and rehearsed a bit more. Then the drumline performed in the afternoon. They were great! Seeing them in motion, the cool formations, was awesome! And they are incredible percussionists. It was sweet!

Then the band did a Q&A with them for a while and then we went back to the hotel for a bit. Then, that night, they performed.

It was a long weekend, but so much fun. The drumline LOVE the band. I mean they just LOVED them. And the Gooding boys were felt so honored that they did all that for them. It was nice.

I'm putting up some photo teases of the weekend. I took over 770 pictures and it's gonna take me a while to go through them, but I selected a few highlights and I'll post them here.

The first pic is the band's new tshirt. I was the first one to buy one (which I just got chastised for on a voice mail from Gooding. They are upset I paid for the 2 shirts I bought. I knew they would give them to me, but I wanted to help support them. Money doesn't grow on trees for bands on the road. But I appreciate them wanting to do that for me.) and I've already posted on the Gooding fans website to brag about being the first. Petty, I know, but fun. :D

They are sweet shirts! And I can't say enough about the Gooding boys. They really are the sweetest guys in the world! And so flippin' talented!

The rest of the pics speak for themselves. I'll post more once I've gone through them all.

HEHE

This is cute.

It's a trailer for Brokeback to the Future. Basically a Back To The Future trailer cut like it's a forbidden love story between Marty McFly and Doc (using real footage). It's cute. :D

MORE STILL LIFE STUFF

Realized that I've never put up the pictures I took the other day while on smoke breaks at work. So I'm doing that now.

At the same time, I'm posting pics I took this afternoon at Maple Grove Cemetery. I'm not so happy with them, but I'm posting a bunch of the ones I didn't like, as well as the ones I did, just to see what you think. You guys might like things I didn't.

Anyway, here they are.

PARTY

Had a blast tonight with my friends. We went to PF Changs. I've never been there before and it's a cool flipping place. Busy as hell too!

Thank you so much to my friends who came. It really meant alot to me. It was everything I wanted and more. I had such a great time! It was nice to just hang out with people I love.

Here's some pics. I look drunk in half of them, but I swear I didn't drink at all! Sorry they are all so crappy looking. Stupid digital camera! However, I think this is the most pictures I have ever been in. Normally I allow one, maybe two, pictures of me a year. Now you see why. :D

And as you can tell, the night was all about Gracie, Danzel and Jason's baby girl. And it should be. She is so flipping cute!

Love you guys! Thanks again for everything!

THE ZOO

So, I went to the zoo today to try and take more pics. See, I'm trying to be good!

I had a really hard time though. Very few of the animals were close and, like a dumbass, I forgot to bring my long lens. And others I could only take through glass and dirty glass at that, so it didn't work out. A couple that I did shoot were through glass and came out ok, I guess.

I don't know. I'm not loving these like I did the others, although some are growing on me. Some you would never know I shot at the zoo. I don't know, I feel like someone who was experienced at this type of photography would be shooting things left and right and I was having a hard time chosing things. My "eye" still needs work.

I'll let you guys see them and find out what you think, I guess.

BRANCHING OUT

Here's some new pictures I took today. Since several friends, both in "real life" and online have told me that I should branch out and do non-portrait type pictures, so I decided today, since I didn't have a shoot scheduled, that I would do that. I've been trying to do one a week since the year began, and I've been good about that, but I thought today I'd do a whole shoot. I tried to keep it in my "style", that is to say, pictures with a shallow depth of field, but other than that, I just kind of let myself go.

So, here they are. The fruit of my labor. I really like some of them. Hopefully you will too. Let me know what you think. Is this an experiment I should continue to pursue or should I stick to portraits?
